Too Tight

What did you say, what did you do…
that brought me here back to you?

I didn’t see, I didn’t say
I thought it would all be okay

I look like you you look like me
something you won’t believe
what did you say

what made you smile
I made you smile
a smile we made to save this too
it’s what I do

I just want to know
where we’re going
if there’s anywhere to go

and I’m sorry if I wasn’t
even watching
when you told me so

I will be all right
eventually

and you’ll still be too tight
to hold onto me

10 Things I Hate About You Poem

This 10 Things I Hate About You Poem is a great exercise in creativity for any writer. For this exercise, you simply use the central theme of writing about ten things that you hate regarding someone or something.

Here are a few different examples of ways this poem title could be used:

An alcoholic to a drink
A student to a teacher
A gardener to a dandelion
A sugar cube to an ant
A child to a parent
A friend to another friend
A poem to an ex

Really, the possibilities are endless on this. You can use it as an exercise to release some pent up anger, or use some creativity and see if you can twist it into a non-hating poem.

Here’s some of our examples you can use for inspiration:

Smoking

I need you
the minute I put you out
I want you
every time you’re not around
You make me feel old
You alienate me from my friends
I don’t want to kiss anyone
after I’ve had you
You taste too smooth
You cost too much
You pollute the air
and blacken my lungs
I’m addicted to you.

You’re a Jerk

Let me be
blatantly honest here
I don’t like you
and I probably never will

And since I don’t like you
and probably never will
I guess I owe it to you
to at least tell you why

You’re a jerk
You’re a jerk
You’re a jerk
1, 2, 3, how easy this is, see?
You’re a jerk
You’re a jerk
You’re a jerk
4, 5, 6
You’re a jerk
You’re a jerk
You’re a jerk
7, 8, 9
You’re a jerk, a jerk, you’re a jerk
You’re a really big jerk

So now you know why I don’t like you
and probably never will

Inner Coward

1. You’re quite the eloquent type
who always knows
the right thing to say
2. And you use this to your advantage
3. You take everything for granted

4. You have a narrow perspective
5. A skewed view on life that’s defective
6. It doesn’t take a detective
to see you clearly think
this globe spins for you

7. You are not a man
8. but a boy in a big guy body
9. too insecure to be yourself
10. So you hide and try to control

Now that you’ve read our few examples, it is your turn to try this writing exercise and let us know what kind of poem you get! We’d love to see your 10 Things I Hate About You poems shared with us in the comments section below!

Funny Mother’s Day Poems

Mother’s Day is a day meant to honor all Mom’s out there, so nothing could be better than sharing a few funny Mother’s Day Poems with your mom to make her laugh!

One of our favorites is called Momisms: The Things Moms Say, which is pretty funny and cute and sentimental as well. This poem goes on to list many of the phrases that all moms say, such as “Go pick up your room” or “don’t jump on the bed”. Really, it’s sweet, and funny, go read it!

It can be tough to be funny sometimes without being offensive, so it’s important to make sure that whatever you write is something that your mother will really like and not take the wrong way! The last thing you would want to do is upset your mom on Mother’s Day!

Thanks Mom

Happy Mother’s Day Mom!
Today I’d like to take the time
and thank you for all the great things
you’ve done!

Thank you
for cleaning off the walls
when I would draw on them all

Thank you mom
for telling me
not to pick my nose.
Thank you mom,
for always washing all my clothes.

And thank you mom,
for those times
you drove me everywhere
and all the Christmases
when you gave me underwear.

Thanks for the advice
to always wear sunscreen
and thanks for teaching me
how to scrub a pot clean.

I might not have told you
all those things back then,
I might not have realized
someday it would be for my own good
so I want to make it understood:
I LOVE YOU!
Happy Mother’s Day!

Mom Knows Everything

Mom knows everything,
how long to boil an egg,
how to kiss a boo boo on your leg
they know how to see you
from another room
they know how to dust off
cobwebs with a broom
Moms know how to make you laugh
and they know how to
stop you from being sad
mom’s know what things
will poke your eyes out
always looking out
to make sure you’re safe
Mom’s are the best
at knowing everything!

Statue of Liberty Poems

The Statue of Liberty is a national monument in the United States that for many people symbolizes many different things. It is located on an island near New York City, and was a gift from France as a symbol of freedom and democracy.

One of the most famous poems about the statue of Liberty is the one by Emma Lazarus, titled The New Colossus and speaks of how the torch can open the door for those who are tired and poor, most likely related to how when immigrants came to America for the first time they saw the statue first as their welcoming beacon.

Today, the statue remains to be a very popular area attraction and a piece of history. For that reason, we’ve decided to create a few of our own Statue of Liberty poems, and encourage you to try writing one of your own as well!

Liberty

Liberty stands on an
Island, of hope and pride
Beckoning all who are
Eager to
Revolve in
The future and
Yearning

Green Woman

Green woman,
with her torch
and crown
proclaims
freedom to people
and hope to the world
bearer of light
cloaked in peace

From Over Here

From over here,
I see her
and she calls
offering a promise
of freedom and liberty.

Stand Proud

You, you can stand proud
you can hold your head up high
you can boast
and show your pride
your achievement
your accomplishment
And smile
letting your torch
light the way

Freedom Refuge

To find refuge,
seeking freedom
seeking opportunity,
one must not look
very far –
there is hope
abundant
through the gentle eyes
the lovely face
and all her grace
she proclaims
liberty to all.

The Meaning of Liberty

What is the meaning of liberty? Many people will ask
yet few will ever know
There is much hope
and opportunity -
but without liberty one cannot find it,
one cannot live and breathe it.
With liberty, all things are possible
the end of persecution
the invention of ideals
the blossoms of love
the companionship of banding
With liberty,
we can climb the mountain tops
we can scale the sea
we can
just be.

Easter and Bunny Poems

Easter and spring are right around the corner, so we’ve decided to share and make up some bunny poems for you to enjoy!

Easter is a great holiday for kids, and one of the traditions is the Easter bunny will come and leave goodies in a basket or hide eggs in the yard. Some Bunny Loves You

There is a little bunny
who likes to wrinkle up his nose
and nibble on grass everywhere he goes

A little bunny
with long ears that flop
and who likes to hop

This little bunny
has something to say
that I think will make your day.

Some bunny loves you
and that bunny is me!

A Love Poem for Rabbits

I am a rabbit,
and you are
a carrot
so orange
so juicy
so tender
full of flavor
A little nibble
just a taste
of all your grace.

Hopping Through

I’m just hopping through
on my way to see you
Leaving eggs and treats
for you to find to eat

10 Little Bunnies

One little bunny
hopping through the forest
two little bunnies
singing a chorus
three little bunnies
boating in the lake
four little bunnies
riding on roller skates
five little bunnies
wearing top hats
six little bunnies
running away from cats
seven little bunnies
dancing in their tap shoes
eight little bunnies
making carrot stew
nine little bunnies
planting their garden
ten little bunnies
are all friends

Easter Morning

On Easter Morning
we will wake
to see what the
great rabbit left late
last night
filling our baskets with delight
we’ll hunt for eggs
we’ll find them yet
and remember
how much
Easter meant

Bunny Rhymes With Funny

you make me laugh
Tell me a joke

God’s Handyman

The world was in need of repair

to God sent down his handyman

to show some love and care

He gave us a man

who was strong and tough

and equipped with all the tools

of wisdom, compassion, and love

God sent him here not to just fix things

but to build them, too

Friendships, Homes…there was nothing

he couldn’t do!

God blessed us with his handyman

and miss him much we will

but it comforts us in knowing

He can help in heaven still.

Always Remember

Let us forget this grief

but remember the joy of your life

how you always gracefully

handled all the strife

You were strong

and compassionate

And kind and

full of love

And we will always remember that

when we feel you

smiling from above

We may miss you

for eternity

but the lifetime that you’ve had

has taught us so much, Dad

Forever you will be

in our hearts

And nothing will keep

your love for us apart.

Daddy’s Home

Home is where the heart is

and the heart is always home

And while you’re not with us

we feel your spirit roam

It’s presence is in everything

from the rising sun

and in the birds who sing

reminding us that love

surrounds us everywhere

So while you’re not here

on earth, we know you have found the place

where everything is filled with love and grace.

And in heaven, they rejoice

Daddy’s Home, Daddy’s Home!

Best of all, you don’t really have to worry a lot about rhyming or anything else. This type of style is very easy to do and you can easily duplicate it in a few different ways to customize it for the person you love.

100 Reasons Why I Love You

I love the way you laugh (that’s one)
I love the way you smile (there’s two)
I could go on all night long
giving you all the reasons I love you

You always listen to what I have to say
you always know what to do to brighten up my day
I like the way you kiss me on my cheek
I like the way your hair is so sleek

I love the way you tilt your head just so
as if there is something I’m supposed to know

Then there’s the way you think of me
before you think of yourself
and the way you organized
all the sweaters on my shelf

I love the way you write me notes
and hide them for me to find
I love the way it seems like you always
know what’s going on in my mind

You are always polite
with pleases and thank yous
And this poem of 100 reasons
is a way to say you’re welcome to you

You never seem to get distressed
Even when you are really stressed

I love how you think to the future
and how you’re filled with hope
I love how no matter what the
situation is, you always know how to cope

I love the way you
eat your salad
I love the way you
eat a hamburger

I also love that
you always remember
the good times
and you can always plan ahead

Now we’re at 21 reasons, can you believe it already?
I haven’t even mentioned yet
how much i love your spaghetti!

I love your charm, I love your wit
I love how you stand and sit
I love you when you’re sleeping
I love you when you’re dreaming
every minute of every day
I can’t even tell you how much
I love it when you say
you love me too

I love how you get along
with everybody
you even somehow
get along with my family

I love it how you know
how to fix things
How you know to make
everything all right
I love how you steal the covers
in the middle of the night

It’s your trust,
your honesty
your loyalty and more
can you believe I’m now at reason #54?

I love the way you
know everything
i love that you can name the 23rd president of the United States
(what’s his name again?)
And I love how you wash the plates

I love those little dimples
and the sparkles in your eyes
I love the way you smell
and even when you cry

It’s the way you always share
the way you always care
The way you bring inspiration
and your compassion

I love your crreative thinking
your artistic side
the way you do things the way you see right
and how you do not judge
or ever criticize

I could go on all night
with a million reasons here
but I can sum them up with
just one little word:
EVERYTHING!
I love everything about you!

Sympathy Poems

Sympathy poems can be a great source of relief and inspiration in times of grief. Often they can help someone you know feel a little bit better about losing someone important they have lost. These types of poems can be a great thing to use for cards or notes to show someone that you are there for them and that they are in your thoughts.

If you need some of the best sympathy poems ever, we highly recommend the ebook Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep, which features over 250 thoughtful poems that are perfect for times like these. You have enough to think about – this ebook is an instant download and can save you from spending hours searching on the internet for a poem.

Death and dying is always a sensitive subject for many. It is never easy to truly express your condolences. Some people are afraid to talk about it to someone who is grieving, and often the grieving person may not even know what to do and say or how to react. That is why it is important to really take a lot of consideration into what you write or say to someone. You don’t want to seem insensitive or cliched, nor would you want to seem like your sympathy is not genuine or insincere.

Below are some of our examples of sympathy poems:

Swiss Cheese Heart

The heart is like a piece of Swiss Cheese
And although it aches
it never breaks from the hole that is left
when you lose someone

Love Survives

Love can last longer than life
it can survive even death
it can go beyond the boundaries
that we know in our physical and material world

Love is all forgiving,
even when forgiveness seems impossible;
love knows no wrongs
only how to make everything right again

Love does not stop
when we take our final breath
it lives on in the hearts of all
continuing on to share
its radiance and beauty.

Here for You

The hardest thing in life
is to say good-bye to someone you love
Sometimes when you lose someone
you lose a piece of yourself too

No matter what you need
or when you need it
whether today, tomorrow or five years from now
I want you to know
I’m always here for you

Words Don’t Cut It

There aren’t words I can say
that can make this any less harder
Nothing can make
saying goodbye to someone you love
an easy thing to do
but I hope it helps
just letting you know
that no matter what you need
I am here for you

These are just a few examples of sympathy poems. Finding the right one can be tough, and it will depend often on the situation as to which is the best one or right one to use. All in all though you are sure to find something that works well for you.

Love Poems for Him

Writing or finding love poems for a guy can be tricky sometimes, because many times guys are not always really emotional and you don’t want to risk being too overly emotional or mushy, but you still want to show how much you care and love him. The good news is that even though it might be a little more difficult to find the perfect words to express the way you feel, this doesn’t mean you can’t write or share love poems for him that won’t be greatly appreciated and well received.

In most cases, it’s best to think about what your guy likes the best and how you communicate with one another as it is. Doing something totally out of character or unusual may seem strange, but if the poem is written in normal conversational style chances are your guy will be happy with it.

Here are some example Love Poems for Him we decided to share with you to use as some inspiration:

Always With Me

I close my eyes and you are there
in my dreams every night
I take a deep breath and I
inhale your taste
and everything feels all right

You are always with me
no matter where I go
And I will always love you
more than I could show

I close my eyes and remember
all the good times we’ve spend
together, a minute is
never wasted when I spend it with you

You are always on my mind
You are always in my heart
No matter what else is going on
I know we’re never apart

Turns Out I Love You

I didn’t know it when I knew it
I couldn’t show it I thought I blew it
So many thoughts racing through my head
so many things I could have done instead

Why didn’t I see it so much sooner
that you were the right one for me
How could I have not realized
that I loved you as much as you love me?

I never would have expected this
not in a million and forty five years
you’re the one I’m thinking about
all the time in my mind

So even though I
feel kind of silly
and even though it
seems kind of strange
I can’t help but tell you
it turns out I love you.

In Football and Baseball

In football and baseball, I do thee wed
through goals and home runs
overtime and penalties
down the yards lines I will run for you
and how I will stretch to make
that winning catch for you
Whatever the score may be
whether winning or losing
I will always be your cheerleader

I Suck at Writing Poems

I am not a very good poet. Seriously.
I do not know how to make the words rhyme right
I could spend all night trying to think of words
and phrases that rhyme with you
I don’t know anything about stanzas
I don’t know how to get the perfect meter
I am not sure if what I write is even logical or
makes sense
and I’m sure there are a million rules of poetry I may be breaking
But, I don’t care, and
I know you don’t care,
because you love me, and when you
love somebody you don’t mind
that their poetry is horrible, rotten really
so bad it should be crumpled up and never read
because that’s what love is about. You know? It’s okay to
write a crappy poem and share it with somebody you
love because when they love you and you love them
then it doesn’t matter what you write
you just know
that everything is okay
better than okay
it’s freaking awesome.

And so, despite my horrible poetry writing skills
I have decided
I would write this poem
just especially for you
to tell you
that I love you
and I’m glad
that I can share
even my worst talents
with you and they will still
make you smile.

Hope you enjoyed these!
