Our collection of unique, original inspirational poems is the heart of why PoemsBox.com exists. There are so many excellent resources out there for finding new and undiscovered poems, and so many pieces of poetry that speak to the heart, soul, and imagination.

As we wrote about in our post on what makes poems inspirational, there are all sorts of possible outcomes that come from reading and writing poetry. Inspirational poems are not only some of the best types of work, but in our opinion any piece can easily have the power to influence and inspire others. We don’t see the different poems we write and publish as just mere words scrambled together, but works of art that encompass raw human emotions, feelings, and desire.

We started this website to create a large collection of fantastic work that will sure to be enjoyed by all. As we begin the development and improvement process, we are open to any suggestions and feedback. Currently we are only working with our own writing team’s submissions, but it is likely that our dream of opening up submissions to others will soon become a reality as soon as possible. Inspiration comes not just from one source, but many sources. The more people we have contributing their ideas and thoughts, the more likely we will be able to achieve this goal and hope of ours.

The best part about this site is that all of these poems are free for you to use both personally and commercially, as long as you credit us as the source. This can be done with the simple linking to our site, or you can do this in print as well. All of the works on this website are licensed under a Creative Commons 3.0 license, which is one of our favorite licenses. It means you are free to share, distribute, copy, and even develop your own works from it – provided that you give us attribution. You can learn more about the Creative Commons 3.0 license here.

If you’re not sure if it is okay for you to use the inspirational poems we have available on this site, the best thing for you to do is ask us. Simply send us a quick email via our Contact Form and explain your project and what you would like to do with our poems in the most detailed way as possible.
Do You Need Inspiration? This article looks at some different methods of finding inspiration for writing and other aspects of your life.

There are many sources of inspiration for writing inspirational poetry. It can be something as simple as an encounter during your day to day routine, or it can be a specific feeling or emotion. If you’re looking for some ways to be inspired to write beautiful poetry, here are some fantastic ideas and writing prompts to get you started:

A Photograph: The saying of “A picture is worth 1000 words” always holds true for being inspired to write by looking at pictures. Pictures can do many things – they can invoke a certain feeling or mood. They can often tell a story. Sometimes just a simple description can be considered poetic in of itself. Either pull out some of your own photos, or take some time to browse photo galleries such as Flickr or Morguefile and you’ll be amazed at what you’ll be wanting to write.

An Experience: Your own experiences may not seem as if they would mean a lot, but they often can help inspire others through your own actions and situations. Whether it’s about how you poured your morning coffee or the thrill you felt when riding a roller coaster, your experiences can inspire others.

A Place: Places are where things happen. Any place can be a source of inspiration – be it your favorite relaxation zone of peaceful nature or the busy sidewalks of a large metropolitan city. Capturing the sights and the sounds of a place can also be another great source of inspiration.

A Free Write: Get a Timer, and make yourself write without stopping for 5 minutes. You might not produce anything significant or groundbreaking, but you’ll be surprised at how this very simple exercise can inspire you to create more and give you many different ideas for things to write about and share.

Reading: Sometimes seeing other words can make you gather your own thoughts and begin forming new related ideas with your own words. Whether you read a book, a magazine, a blog, the newspaper, or even a road sign, there’s plenty of things that can help you feel inspired to write something. Many popular songs, books, movies, and more have come from the development of an idea by reading the works of another.

An Object: There are objects all around us. Chances are you are sitting or standing on one right now as you are reading this article! Choose any object, or several objects, and write about them. You can be descriptive, or you can be elusive – it’s all up to you.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to finding sources of inspiration to write poetry. Several of the above prompts and ideas are not just for writing exercises, but can be used in many different aspects of your life. Many of the poems here are designed to help you feel the desire to create and achieve wonderful things. If you take some time to look around and become aware with your surroundings, you’ll be amazed at what types of things can be an inspirational resource to you.

What makes poetry inspirational? We look at the five characteristics that can inspire us to create, reflect, and motivate ourselves to accomplish great things.

Our growing collection of inspirational poems here at PoemsBox.com are works of poetry that are intended to move, inspire, motivate, and make you think. As we embark on creating this poetry magazine to be one of the greatest resources for poetry lovers and poets alike, we ask the question: What Makes Poetry Inspirational?

There are many different things that we can use to classify a poem to be inspiring. Below are some of the characteristics we look at in selecting and writing each post that we decide to publish:

Motivational: It can be difficult at times to find the motivation to accomplish great things. So many people have achieved unbelievable and seemingly impossible outcomes when they have had the proper drive and determination to bring their ideas to a reality. For this reason, pieces that make you want to get moving or do something wonderful can be great motivating sources to inspire themselves and others to get started.

Call For Change: We have all at times wondered if there are ways we can improve ourselves, our lives, or the situations and lives for others. Whether a poem speaks against prejudice or calls for action for those to stand up for what they believe in, these types of work are inspiring for us to stop continuing with what has been accepted as normal and work towards change and improvement. It is unbelievable when you think about the power of a few chosen words and how they can change and shape the future and society.

Sharing of Wisdom and Experiences: As humans, we learn from our experiences. The experiences transform into knowledge, and combining our knowledge over time leads to wisdom. When words that we write share an experience and wisdom, we are often inspired to learn more, or share our own related experiences and knowledge. The more we share of these things, the more we benefit.

Creativity: Creativity is a powerful gift that leads us to imagine and explore the world around us in new ways. All of us have some form of creativity, even though many will say they are not the creative type. A poem itself is an expression of creativity, as well as a creation. With the creation of one thing, comes the inspiration to create more.

Divinity: Spirituality plays a large role in the lives of many people, even those who may not feel they are religious. Divinity sees no lines between different religions or beliefs – but simply recognizes that there is a higher power and a deeper part of ourselves that guides us in our thoughts and actions. Often times a poem will help us touch base with our souls and our beliefs, which then inspires us to explore it further.

What do you believe makes something inspirational? Do you find inspirational poems to be helpful in exploring any of the above thoughts? Share your comments below.

Inspirational Poems can be enjoyed - and written - by just about anyone.

The authors of PoemsBox have written thousands of poems. What began as a simple way of expressing one’s feelings and thoughts at the tender age of twelve has grown into a huge collection of thousands of poems, captured in notebooks and word processing software over many decades.

It will likely take us quite a long time to type and edit these poems we have written, which is why we’re also writing articles for this site. We don’t want a brand new site to have no content while we tackle on a project that could likely take several weeks, months, or even a few years to accomplish!

Something we have noticed about those who like to write and read poetry is that there simply is never an end to the love for poems. We think in poetry. It is not surprising when building this site, we naturally had to choose the blogging platform and powerful CMS WordPress, who on their website has the words “Code is Poetry”. They are speaking of html and php language, but in a way, they are right in more ways of looking at it than simply just the combination of codes and words.

There is poetry in every single thing we do. Every course of action and every situation is an opportunity for poems to be written. Those who love reading and writing and have a special place in their hearts for poems know that there is no end to the thoughts and the words that come together in a beautiful landscape.

A lot of people believe that writing poetry is difficult. Chances are, if you believe this, you are trying too hard. If you are concerned and worried about how many stanzas you have and whether the words rhyme or even if what you’re writing about makes sense – then you are trying too hard.

When it comes to poetic terms and being a poet, you don’t have to make sense. You don’t have to make style a priority or conform to a certain design and formula to get your point across. You may not even need to have a point. Everything you talk about and put onto pen and paper (or in our case, uploaded to our webhost and MySQL server) becomes a beautiful language open to interpretation. Some of the best poets out there are still undiscovered. Some of them may not even have written a single a word down.

Everyone has the power to be inspired and to inspire others. The question is not whether there is a poet in you – but how many poems are in you.
