People need a poem about a virtuous woman, and so we’ve decided to take that theme and write a couple, just for the heck of it. (Hey, that’s what you do when you’re a Poems Box. ) They’re probably not what you’d expect, especially if you’re looking for something with Bible verses, but hey, at least you can know they are all 100% original.

The Qualities of a Virtuous Woman

Women of virtue
do not lie
they do not falsify
truth is the standard fare

They are independent
of others
they follow none
and do what is right

Respect for life
and all things given
she destroys nothing
in no choice

She moves, she soothes
she helps you out
she has no doubt –
many are the qualities of a virtuous woman.

Tell Me

Tell me,
how do you become
so much better
than the rest of us?

When we fall
you climb
When we divide
you stay whole

Morally excellent
you know
things beyond things
you know a path
that takes on
the road

Will you teach us?

A woman can go nine months with a bowling ball in her stromach
and not only survive and endure the pain of childbirth
but smile afterward
She can go nights without sleep
and days without showering
just to keep her family content

She can balance herself in high heels
juggle a briefcase, laptop, sippy cup, and car keys
all in one hand

With a kiss she can make
all boo-boos
better and seem to disappear.

With all of her strength she can love
she can tolerate and respect
She can persevere
when the rest have become weary

The strengths of a woman are many.

Illumination

Illuminated, she glows
in the soft bask of the light
her patience has paid
the dues for her beliefs

Enlightened, she knows
the wrong from the right
and questions whats said
that is against her beliefs

Determined, she goes
if it takes all night
she will go until she’s led
the strong to her beliefs

Illuminated, she will succeed.

It’s Just a Ride

When you’re out there
remember
that it’s just a ride.

You don’t need
to have a million reasons
or a million things to do
you don’t need a million dollars
to see the world on through

wear your seat belt
roll with it
don’t close your eyes
you’ve got a lot to learn
while you’re on this ride

Everybody, yes everybody
we all make mistakes
its the difference of whether
they stop you or launch you
when you put on the brakes

No matter what they tell you
when the pressure’s mounting up
it’s just a ride.

by definition:

if is a condition
and what a consideration

There’s No Logic

There’s no logic when I’m with you
I never know if what you say is really true

There’s a million things I’ve always wondered out
I can’t believe what its all about
I walk around so confused
things I always thought would stay the same
reasons beyond what I can explain

You will take whatever you can to change
You could tell me we’re going to fly today
While we’re at it, let’s make it rain

You never wonder how
You know it’ll all work out
Make it up as we go
We can’t explain

There’s no logic when
everything is impossible
but you can see it through

What I Hope For You

I hope you don’t make all the same dumb mistakes that I made.
I hope my dumb mistakes have taught me enough to teach you.

I hope you learn how to do all the things I wanted to, but never did.

The Other Side of Darkness

This inspirational poem is about feeling lost and alone – and overcoming those feelings.

The Other Side of Darkness

What can be accomplished at night?
At a time when there is no light,
and little movement outside
it seems as if life has come to a standstill
and there is little we can do to change until
we seen the sun again.

So often we forget
that on the other side of the world
it is daylight, and where they are
The sun has risen.

On the other side of darkness,
they are drinking their morning coffee.

They have gotten into their cars.
They are working.
They are teaching.
They are learning.

They are…
sharing
laughing
playing
watching
hugging.

And it will go on, until it is our turn
to see the daylight
and they wonder
what happens
on the other side of darkness.
