We’ve also decided to list a few of our own here that you are free to use for your own personal use.

God’s Handyman

The world was in need of repair

to God sent down his handyman

to show some love and care

He gave us a man

who was strong and tough

and equipped with all the tools

of wisdom, compassion, and love

God sent him here not to just fix things

but to build them, too

Friendships, Homes…there was nothing

he couldn’t do!

God blessed us with his handyman

and miss him much we will

but it comforts us in knowing

He can help in heaven still.

Always Remember

Let us forget this grief

but remember the joy of your life

how you always gracefully

handled all the strife

You were strong

and compassionate

And kind and

full of love

And we will always remember that

when we feel you

smiling from above

We may miss you

for eternity

but the lifetime that you’ve had

has taught us so much, Dad

Forever you will be

in our hearts

And nothing will keep

your love for us apart.

Daddy’s Home

Home is where the heart is

and the heart is always home

And while you’re not with us

we feel your spirit roam

It’s presence is in everything

from the rising sun

and in the birds who sing

reminding us that love

surrounds us everywhere

So while you’re not here

on earth, we know you have found the place

where everything is filled with love and grace.

And in heaven, they rejoice

Daddy’s Home, Daddy’s Home!

Finding sympathy poems can be difficult, so we've put together a few that can be used to show your condolences.

Sympathy poems can be a great source of relief and inspiration in times of grief. Often they can help someone you know feel a little bit better about losing someone important they have lost. These types of poems can be a great thing to use for cards or notes to show someone that you are there for them and that they are in your thoughts.

If you need some of the best sympathy poems ever, we highly recommend the ebook Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep, which features over 250 thoughtful poems that are perfect for times like these. You have enough to think about – this ebook is an instant download and can save you from spending hours searching on the internet for a poem.

Death and dying is always a sensitive subject for many. It is never easy to truly express your condolences. Some people are afraid to talk about it to someone who is grieving, and often the grieving person may not even know what to do and say or how to react. That is why it is important to really take a lot of consideration into what you write or say to someone. You don’t want to seem insensitive or cliched, nor would you want to seem like your sympathy is not genuine or insincere.

Below are some of our examples of sympathy poems:

Swiss Cheese Heart

The heart is like a piece of Swiss Cheese
And although it aches
it never breaks from the hole that is left
when you lose someone

Love Survives

Love can last longer than life
it can survive even death
it can go beyond the boundaries
that we know in our physical and material world

Love is all forgiving,
even when forgiveness seems impossible;
love knows no wrongs
only how to make everything right again

Love does not stop
when we take our final breath
it lives on in the hearts of all
continuing on to share
its radiance and beauty.

Here for You

The hardest thing in life
is to say good-bye to someone you love
Sometimes when you lose someone
you lose a piece of yourself too

No matter what you need
or when you need it
whether today, tomorrow or five years from now
I want you to know
I’m always here for you

Words Don’t Cut It

There aren’t words I can say
that can make this any less harder
Nothing can make
saying goodbye to someone you love
an easy thing to do
but I hope it helps
just letting you know
that no matter what you need
I am here for you

These are just a few examples of sympathy poems. Finding the right one can be tough, and it will depend often on the situation as to which is the best one or right one to use. All in all though you are sure to find something that works well for you.

These funeral poems for moms and mothers can help cope with the grief.

One of the most difficult things for many people to do is to say good-bye when their mother passes away. Many people seek comfort in reading funeral poems for mom or mother and to find a way to say good-bye to the person who did so much in their life. When you are planning funeral arrangements it can be a huge amount of stress combined with your own feelings of grief, loss, and sadness.

If you’re in need of a poem for a eulogy, funeral, mass, obituary, or other need, there’s a great ebook titled Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep. It’s an instant download, which means within minutes you can have over 250 poems and quotations you can use, saving you hours of searching online and giving you the perfect words to say.

Finding a poem can not only help you find peace, but give your mom and mother one last tribute as to how much you loved her. Below are some poems that were written and used as funeral poems, that you may use at your own ceremony if you would like:

Saying Good-Bye

Today we say good-bye to my mother
and those who loved her can only be thankful
to be so blessed in having known her
because she would be pretty mad
to see all these tears cried for her

Something about my mother
was very giving. She never liked
anyone going out of their way
to do something nice for her -
instead she always was the one
giving to us.

A mother does a lot of things in life
She not only took care of us as kids
but saw us through being adults as well
she never hesitated to tell us
what was wrong or right

We are really going to miss her
and it’s going to be hard
but the things she has done in her life
are ingrained in us
and I know that her voice will remain in our hearts
until we join her in heaven.

An Angel Returns Home

When God sends a child into the world
he gives them an angel to take care of them
that angel’s name is Mom

While we will miss our mother today
and everyday
for the rest of our lives,
know she did not leave us
but that she is an angel
who has only returned back home.

A Life Well Lived

A life well lived
is a life to rejoice
a life that never ends
because it lives on in others

A life with happiness and joy
is a life that makes the difference
and fills all others with peace.

A life well lived
does not see today as an end
but a day set free
to live on in others.

Today's poetry challenge us for writing gangster sad love poems - see our examples and share your own.

Today’s poetry challenge: Write gangster sad love poems.

Writing about something that you have no experience with or no nothing about is a great way to push your boundaries and creativity as a writer. Everybody in their lifetime at least once will feel that feeling of sad love where someone doesn’t love you like you love them, or you can’t be together, or maybe something sad happened that made you cry. Writing about it from a different perspective or point of view can help you better yourself as a poetry writer. Sure, you might feel a little awkward about it, but it really will give you some inspiration, we promise.

A gangster is a member in a gang of criminals. Think about the classic musical of the West Side Story – the somewhat modern take on classic Romeo and Juliet, the star crossed lovers were members of different gangs. Or you could try writing the poem from the perspective of a character in the movie the Godfather. Have fun with it!

Here are a few examples to get you started – but don’t hesitate to do something completely different, too!

Division

In the neighborhood
in the streets
in the eyes of the devil
in the sleep

I see an angel
I see her lips
she whispers honey

She’s from the other side
if she only knew what it’s like
she’d be terrified

There’s a division between us
it is an imaginary line
I can’t tell you why it’s there
but it’s been there for a really long time

They say this angel
they say she’s no good for me
afraid to stand up and say
i’m too good for this

in the neighborhood of darkness
behind the sun and moon
there’s love waiting for us
but it must just be too soon
we can’t be together
until we find peace

Tell Mama

tell my mama i’m in love with a gangster
tell my mama that it’s too late now
ain’t nothing I can say to convince her
that falling for a gangster can work out

he’s gonna by me diamond rings
he’s gonna quit once he gets me everything

tell my mama i’m moving out
tell her I’m pregnant now
tell my mama it’s a baby boy

he’s gonna get it when he gets home
ain’t seen him in days leaving us all alone

tell my mama i’ve been missing her
tell my mama should’ve listened to her
tell my mama i’m coming home

Okay, now its your turn to write a gangster sad love poem! Share yours in the comments below.

These break up sad love poems are just what the doctor ordered for mending a broken heart.

Break up sad love poems tend to be the most pure and raw in emotion, often dominating others poems in their beautiful imagery and style. Poems about breaking up is something nearly all of us can relate to, because unfortunately many relationships come to an end.

The emotion we see in these poems happens for a variety of reasons, but most likely because a break up is one of the most emotionally painful experiences you can have. The emotions that come to play can involve anything from extreme sadness to anger and resentment.

While some may argue that it’s no good to wallow in the misery of ending a relationship with someone you love, writing a break up poem can also be a critical part in the healing process it takes to mend a broken heart.

We’ve written a few sad breaking up poems you might like below:

Should Have Known Better

Should have known better than to trust a friend
should have known it would come to an end
all those things you were telling me
are nothing more than a memory
you have no idea what you’ve done to me
to tell me one day you love me
and the next you break up with me
it’s sick when I think
of all the things we went through
to find out it means nothing to you

how could I have been so blind
when it seemed you were so kind

your words are twisted up inside
my head and they won’t stop
echoing that you’re leaving

What Makes Love Stop?

What makes you stop
loving someone one day?
Do you just wake up
and say, Okay
I’ve had enough of this?

Do you think it through?
Or is it something you just do?

Does it come from boredom?
Is it just something dumb
you’ve done and will regret someday?

How could you say you love me
and now you say you don’t
doesn’t love mean anything to you
you shouldn’t say words that aren’t true

No Tears

You say no tears
as you wipe mine away
like if you don’t see them
they’re not there

You tell me you’re sorry
that you didn’t want to hurt me
but if you meant that
we wouldn’t be here

I can’t believe a word you say
you think a kiss will make it all okay
but everything you’ve done to me
isn’t enough to say sorry

You can’t take away tears
when you’re the one
who gave them to me.

Picking Up Where You Left

Where you left
there is a mess
a box of memories
spilled to the floor
and me
drowning in the middle
of it all

Letting Go

Letting go
is the hardest part
the part where
you never know
when to draw the line
between ending and over
quitting and done,
wanting and denial

Letting go
is the brink of loneliness
and the edge of all i have known
the part where
you wish you knew
the right words to say

Letting go
is that awkward time
when you can’t make yourself
say goodbye.

To Say It

To say
I love you

almost
means
nothing

when i’ve gone
and blown up
emotions

pieces need picked up
vacuumed
collected
mounted on the wall

to say
I love you
almost means nothing
when I don’t
feel it

We decided to add a few more “I’ll Miss You Poems” to our poems box after we finished writing our collection of Sweet Miss You Poems.

Some of these have a little bite to them, others are just as sweet as the first batch.
I’ll Miss You Period

I’ll Miss You.
No more hearing the sound of your voice
No more feeling your arms around me
No more watching each other
Rather than think
about all of these things
I’ll leave it at that.
I’ll Miss You. Period.

Wish It Wasn’t So

Why do you have to leave now?
When things are just beginning to get good
It’s like interrupting a fairy tale
before the happy ending

I can wish for so many things
I could wish you’d come back
But I can’t control anything
I can’t make you stay here

Why’d you pick now
of all the times to go
Why do it when my love for
you had just started to begin to grow?

Why not wait
until I feel bitter first?
Why did you wait
for my heart to make
room for you?

I wish it wasn’t so
wish you didn’t have to go
wish you’d stay a little longer
let my heart beat a little stronger

I will miss you.

Someone I’ll Never See Again

You are someone
I’ll never see again
I know this
the minute you
decide you’re going away

You won’t come back to visit
You won’t call me to say hello
You won’t send me a message on facebook
or even care to know
what I’m up to or that I’d really
like to still be where
I used to be
on your shelf of friends and family

And so,
it’s just a prediction
because I know that you said you would call
and you said you would write
but the truth is after too long
we might forget the fight
it takes to keep in contact.

I will miss you, somebody
I’ll never see again.

When You Get Up This Morning

When you get up this morning,
I’ll have a note
there on the pillow
telling you
I’ve gone

I won’t leave an explanation
I won’t characterize damnation
I will starve you of the simple gratification
of knowing why I’ve left.

There will be no foreseeing
of the reasons of my leaving
so you won’t know
that I will miss you
when I’ve gone.

A Wonderful Day

A wonderful day starts
with me and you together
we eat our breakfast
you like the cereal and I go for the
granola.

And then we talk about the things we’d like to do
all day together with each other
and then we go and do them
until we are so happy and exhausted
all we can do is say
let’s go to bed and collapse
into each other’s arms.

This is a perfect day, and all I can think of
to keep me hanging on until you will come back.
Until then, I’ll miss you.

Miss You Already

I miss you already.
It’s been specifically fifteen minutes and thirty three seconds since you’ve left.
Thirty four seconds.
Thirty five seconds.

Oh why I am counting
It won’t bring you back any sooner

I don’t know what to do
I’m going to go crazy.
I can’t think of anything else
I can’t do anything else
except think about
how long it’s been
and how long I’ve got to wait.

Let me tell you something,
it’s a long time to wait when I’m away from you.
I hope you don’t miss me as much as I miss you.
I wouldn’t want you to go through this feeling I have
this sensation of your head being numb
and your toes on fire and your body unable to move
like you’re half paralyzed in a stimulated environment
where half the world is depending on you to do something
and you can’t escape this feeling like a cat stuck in your chest

Yeah, I hope you don’t miss me that much.

This is a sad poem that deals with the unexpected death of a long time friend.

Baseball and the Rangers

I’ll never forget you,
though I wish I could.

Forgetting would mean
I wouldn’t think sometimes
about how your mother screamed and cried
and how it echoed down the street
the day she got the call
they found you OD’d.

Forgetting you would mean I could forget
just how much you loved baseball as a kid.
You were always
collecting and trading and swapping
cards with everybody else.
That was 17 years ago,
You’d think by now
I wouldn’t still remember
Ken Griffey Junior was your favorite.

Last night I dreamed about you,
you were talking baseball.
Told me you were trying out for the Texas Rangers.
I was so happy for you.
Until I woke up,
and realized you never did play baseball -
somehow your dreams replaced
by an eight ball.

You know, I don’t really want to forget you.
I just really wish you were still here.
Wish I could flip on the TV
and see you playing baseball with the Rangers.

A sad poem about perceptions of one's self and others.

Drunk in beauty and love
you don’t see the mirror
those reflections sparkle
in everyone’s eyes but yours

You act as if you’re too good for me
but you don’t believe you’re good enough for yourself.

You ignore the frog in the pond
you can’t stand in the shallow water
you pretend not to hear me when I call you

Have you stopped looking
or do your eyes really not know
that what you see is deception?

There is truth in the tides,
but until you stop being blind
it’s a matter only of perception.

You do not see me now
And you cannot love yourself.
